Any ground hunters on here?

The older I get, the more the thought of hunting off the ground appeals to me. Especially when some of the thick cover I've started targeting doesn't really provide many opportunities for treestand or even saddle hunting. I'm going to set a personal goal for this next season to spend some time on the ground hunting.

Anyone else use that approach? If so, what tips would you give someone new to hunting off the ground?

I have always done some ground hunting. When I first started hunting in the mid 80’s this was pretty standard fare. At 49 the appeal is definitely getting greater.

It is a great way to hone your skills as a woodsman and it doesn’t get any cheaper.

Yeah, I hunted off the ground a good bit when I first started in the late 80s, because that's all I knew. I didn't have a treestand, so I made due. I didn't kill too many deer back then, but man I had some exciting encounters 😂
